ICCBR 2011

Created by David 4 years ago

My deepest condolences to Miltos' family, friends, and many colleagues.

In 2011, Miltos served as Conference Chair for the International Conference on Case-Based Reasoning (ICCBR). As he was already a senior member of the international CBR community, and had organized several UK workshops on CBR (among other accomplishments), this is not surprising. However, it was completely unanticipated; our plans to hold ICCBR-11 at another location were failing. Fortunately for everyone in our community, Miltos stepped up, big. He quickly arranged for the meeting to shift to Greenwich (London); the URL is http://www.iccbr.org/iccbr11. The event was a huge success; a good turnout and participation, a great location, and Miltos was an informed and entertaining host.  Miltos made *many* contributions to ICCBR throughout his career, with dozens of publications, the encouraged involvement of many students and colleagues, mentorship of others, and (as noted) leadership roles. But *this* one, in 2011, showed his true colors. We owe him a great debt of thanks, and will dearly miss his scholarship, friendship, and good spirits at our future events.
